I heard a funny term the other day. When the Obama team went out and used grassroots networking to build a powerful voice for action, election, and issues, certain, and I don't know who, but they're kind of clever, other voices got all pissed and called this Astroturfing.

No. You fuck. It's called organizing your constituents. Identifying people with the same needs and ideological positions, and informing them and giving the the voice chain of command to to see those needs and whatnot realized is the process of democracy. As it is so many things.
